Genesis 29:18-22
"And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. And he called the name of that place Beth-el: ... And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house:
The name Bethel means "House of God".
Music:
As a small multigenerational church we purposely offer a mixture of contemporary hymns such as "Lord I Lift Your Name On High" to the traditional songs such as "Shall We Gather at the River" and "Amazing Grace." We feel it is important to connect generational groups (children, youth through senior adults) together, offering a variety of worship and praise music for everyone to enjoy.
Joy and Prayer Concerns:
We all have joys that we lift up in praise and thanks to God. Each worship service allows us time to share our testimony of God's goodness in our lives. We also have a time to express our prayer concerns whether it be sickness, loss of jobs or other concerns that need to be lifted up to God. We, as a family, pray asking for God's guidance, healing and direction. We have not lost sight of the altar, nor the power of Jeremiah 33:3 "Call to me and I will answer thee."
Dress Code:
Our family does not have a set dress code, because we feel it is more important that you worship with us, than wear a suit, tie or new dress. Just wear your best in reverence for God. In Matthew 4:19 Jesus called out to the fishermen - Peter and Andrew, "Follow Me." Jesus did not ask Peter and Andrew to first change their clothes or cut their hair. Jesus said, "Follow Me."
1 Peter 3:3 (NLT) "Don't be concerned about the outward beauty that depends on fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty or a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God."
